"Davis Projects for Peace" is an opportunity for undergraduates to receive funding for innovative grassroots project to be implemented this coming summer. If you have an exciting, worthy project for which you would like generousfunding in summer 2008, please submit an electronic 3-page application to
nkeul@duke.edu by Friday, December 7. The application should include a 2-page proposal and a 1-page budget. An ad hoc nomination committee will evaluate the proposals and submit to the Davis UWC Scholarship Program one Duke nominee and one or two alternates by February 15. Winners will be notified in mid-March. Alternative Spring Break Informational Session at 6:00 pm in Meeting Room B, Bryan Center. Learn about future trips to Navajo Reservation in Tuba City, Arizona and to New Orleans, Louisiana during Spring Break 2008!

Free Chips and Salsa Night at 7:30 pm in Armadillo Grill, sponsored by Students to Unite Duke (STUD). Come out and mingle with members of STUD and the Center for Race Relations while enjoying free chips!

Tuesday, December 4
Chorale Christmas Concert at 7:00 pm in Duke Chapel. Come join the Duke Chorale for a night of carols, songs, and sing-a-longs that benefits the Duke community. Admission is free, but please, bring a canned food item (or more). Every year all food collected at the concert is donated to the Durham rescue mission.

On the Reel: Black Love & Relationships Film Series presents "Jason's Lyric" at 7:30 pm in the Mary Lou Williams Center. This series is being held in collaboration with WOMENST150S/AAAS199S - Black Love: Romantic Relationships and the African American Experience taught by Dr. Chanequa Walker-Barnes. A brief discussion may follow each viewing. Open to All! Popcorn Provided!

Wednesday, December 5
Jazz at the Mary Lou at 9:30 pm in the Julian Abele Hall, Mary Lou Williams Center. Enjoy live performances by local musicians as well as Duke music students, with special guest artists all brought together by John Brown, Director of the Duke Jazz Studies Program. Light hors d'oeuvres and liquid refreshment will be provided with the option to enjoy late night fare and drinks in the Faculty Commons provided by Sage & Swift.

Thursday, December 6
UPACT: Xmas Study Break at 7:00 pm in the Upper Eastside, Marketplace. Take a break from studying and enjoy free food and fun with UP and Impact!


Duke Jazz Ensemle with Nnenna Freelon at 8:00 pm in Baldwin Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults. Visit the Duke University Box Office in the Bryan Center to purchase tickets.
