BSA Announcements
BSAI Weekend is here! There will be a Pep Rally on Monday for all BSAI hosts at 7:00 pm in the Mary Lou Williams Center. All BSAI hosts should attend this pep rally to learn more about the weekend and get ready for BSAI. Hosts must attend to receive their t-shirts and information packets. Jimmy Johns will be served at 7:00pm. We hope to see you all there!!

Applications for the University and Cultural Funds are now being accepted for 08-09 school year programs. $200, 000 will be available for any undergraduate student organizations with an OSAF fund code. To qualify for funding, a member of the organization must attend a mandatory information meeting. Multiple members of the organization are encouraged to attend so knowledge of this and other funding processes are not limited to a single person. The informational sessions will be held in the Multicultural Center on the following days:

Wednesday, March 26 4-5 pm
Thursday, March 27 2-3 pm
Tuesday, April 1-2 pm

This week is Global Health Week at Duke, hosted by the Duke Global Health Action Committee. OSAF Crash Courses are designed to give participants a quick education about a particular topic presented by an array of instructors. By definition, Crash Courses are short, lasting no more than 2-3 hours on a particular evening. Crash Courses are designed to be completed in one session; participants need not attend follow-up sessions to complete any given course. Tuesday, March 25
Story Time at 6:30 pm in East Duke Parlor Room (on East Campus). Join Professors & students as they read their favorite Caribbean folktales and poems as part of the first Caribbean Awareness Week.

Let's Talk About Sex, Baby! at 7:00 pm in Bio Sci 113. Unhappy with the social scene at Duke? Stop complaining and do something about it!

Film Screening of "Prince Among Slaves" at 7:00 pm in Soc/Psych 130. Winner Best Documentary 2007 American Black Film Festival. Narrated by hip-hop artist Mos Def, this award-winning documentary reveals the compelling true story of an African prince who survived 40 years of enslavement in America before regaining his freedom under dramatic circumstances and becoming one of the most famous men of his day. 20 complimentary DVDs of the movie will be given out to audience members by drawing (share with your friends or give a gift to your professor!). Diaspora-Exploring Migrations in the Caribbean at 6:30 pm in Social Sciences 113. This panel featuring Matthew Smith (UWI-Mona), Franklin Knight (JHU), and Joshua Nadel (NCCU) is part of the first Caribbean Awareness Week.

Book Talk and Signing with Christopher Gergen at 6:30 pm in Classroom D, Fuqua School of Business. Sponsored by CASE, Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and the Hart Leadership Program, this event is free and open to public and will have a reception for Christopher Gergen, co-author of Life Entrepreneurs: Ordinary People Creating Extraordinary Lives. Keep the Conversation Going: King Downing and the Jena Six at 7:00 pm at White Lecture Hall. King Downing is the National Coordinator of the ACLU's Campaign against Racial Profiling. Downing will be coming to Duke to share his experiences assisting the families of the Jena Six as well as his personal encounters with racial profiling. In addition, he will discuss the ACLU’s major initiatives in public education, legislation and litigation to end discriminatory police stops and searches. A sneak 20 min preview of an up and coming documentary on the case will also be shown!

Jazz at the Mary Lou at 9:30 pm in the Julian Abele Hall, Mary Lou Williams Center. Enjoy live performances by local musicians as well as Duke music students, with special guest artists all brought together by John Brown, Director of the Duke Jazz Studies Program. Light hors d'oeuvres and liquid refreshment will be provided with the option to enjoy late night fare and drinks in the Faculty Commons provided by Sage & Swift.

Thursday, March 27
Free Cake on the Bryan Center Plaza starting at 1:00 pm. Join SOCA and enjoy free cake decorated as Caribbean Flags and celebrate the first Caribbean Awareness Week.

Speaker Rami Nashashibi at 7:00 pm in Soc Sci 139. Activist and Palestinian-American Rami Nashashibi will address how to activate community service by bridging social and religious communities. Nashashibi is the leader of a community based non-profit organization in Chicago that works for social justice. Come learn how you can make difference in your community by building alliances across religious and ethnic boundaries. Middle-Eastern appetizers provided. The Duke Self Knowledge Symposium presents "Zorba the Greek" at 7:00 pm in McClendon Tower Media Room 2. Supported by a campus grant from the Kenan Ethics Institute, this Symposium is proud to host a film series this Spring entitled "Authentic Happinness." Following the screening of the film there will be a discussion centered on the ideals of happiness, passion, and authenticity. BSAI NPHC Step Show Exhibition at 5:15 pm at the Chapel Steps

Caribbana at 7:00 pm on Clocktower Quad. Join SOCA for this outdoor social event with free food, dance, a DJ playing all your Caribbean favorites and culminate Caribbean Awareness Week.

Art and Soul at 9:00 pm at Mary Lou Williams Center. Come and enjoy a relaxing night with local, neo-soul group: Durty Sol, local poets, and local artist Maya Freelon Asante.

Saturday, March 29
Duke University Pow Wow at 12:00 pm on Main West Quad. This is the first pow wow that Duke has hosted in a while, so come out and participate or experience some Native American dancing and food!
