BSA Programs
Donna Brazile Event
On Thursday, March 19th BSA, in conjunction with the Black Student Movement at UNC Chapel Hill and the Black Student Board at NC State, will present a talk and discussion with Donna Brazile at UNC.  Brazile is a CNN correspondent and best known for being the first African American to chair a presidential candidate's campaign when heading up Al Gore's 2000 campaign. Julian Abele Awards
We are still seeking nominations for the 2009 Julian Abele Awards. This ceremony recognizes the significant contributions of Black community members and their allies at Duke University. The awards are as follows:

Gustavo Esteva will be giving a talk "Reclaiming the Commons: Alternatives to Education at the Grassroots" at 12:00 pm in the Multicultural Center. Esteva will be analyzing the impact of grassroots implementations of education strategies.

Friday, March 6th
Today is the deadline for nomination students for the 2008-2009 Student Affairs Distinguished Leadership and Service Awards. This event will celebrate leadership and service and will be an opportunity to recognize a select number of individuals and organizations whose influence and achievements have made a significant impact on University life and beyond. Capital One Summit for Developing Leaders
Capital One is seeking students to participate in their 2nd Annual Summit for Developing Leaders. This week-long program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop analytical and problem-solving skills.  All application materials should be sent electronically to kira.peterson@capitalone.com. Include a resume, cover letter, and 250-300 word response to each of the following questions: 
1. Describe a major obstacle or challenge you have faced in pursuit of your goals, how you addressed the situation and what the outcome was. 
2. Tell us something unique about yourself that is not on your resume. 
3. Why Capital One and why Capital One's Summit for Developing Leaders?
The application is due Friday, March 6th.  

The MLT Career Preparation Program is a 12-week comprehensive experience to prepare students for a fast-track entry-level jobs. This program is open to students from all majors who are African American, Hispanic, and/or Native American. Students also should be graduating in 2011. Career Nexus Partners will be having a presentation from 5:00-7:00 pm  in Social Sciences 139. This program will provide information on packaging and marketing skills for job/internship search, techniques for success in the job/internship process and developing an effective toolbox for networking. The Duke Arab Student Organization presents Arabian Nights from 6:00-7:30 pm in Reynolds Theater in the Bryan Center. Performances include a Middle Eastern fashion show, a rap performance and a show by DefMo among other activities.

Duke Men's Basketball plays Florida State University at 8:00 pm in Cameron Indoor

Sunday, March 8th
Duke Men's Basketball plays UNC at Chapel Hill at 4:00 pm. It can be seen on CBS.
