Late Registration
BSA Division of Academic Affairs presents Late Registration: The Unofficial Guide to Academics at Duke from 7:30-9:00 pm in the Mary Lou. This will be a chance for students to hear about your peers' academic experiences at Duke and to receive advice about picking a major and choosing classes.  We would like to remind upperclassmen to send completed questionnaires to Kristina Broadie at kristina.broadie@duke.edu by midnight on Tuesday, February 24th. 

Julian Abele Awards
Duke University's Black Graduate and Professional Students Association and the Black Student Alliance are proud to announce the presentation of the 2009 Julian Abele Honors. This ceremony recognizes the significant achievements of Black community members and their allies at Duke University.

Registration for Summer 2009 classes begins today.

The Undergraduate Judicial Board will be having an information session at 8:00 pm in Social Sciences 124. The Undergraduate Judicial Board is now seeking candidates who are committed to the principles of honesty, fairness, respect and accountability for the 2009-2010 academic school year. Applicants must be rising juniors or seniors who are not studying abroad either semester. Tuesday, February 24th
President Obama's First Address to Congress will take place from 12:00-1:00 pm. You can watch this event with Duke Democrats in Craven Quad Commons 105-106.

Wednesday, February 25th
The Women's Center presents "What is Beautiful at Duke?" from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Women's Ceenter. This discussion group will ocver body image attitudes on campus and how they affect students.

Thursday, February 26th
Princeton Review will be hosting "Princeton Review Personal Statement Workshop for Law School Admissions" from 6:30-8:30 pm in Old Chemistry 116. This interactive workshop will be led by Duke Pre-Law Advisor, Dean Gerald Wilson, and Sonel Y. Shropshire, a nationally renowned law admissions guru. All attendees will receive a free copy of Princeton Review's Law School Essays that Made a Difference.

Hear Dr. Robin D.G. Kelley speak on "A Joyful Noise: Spirituality and Modern Jazz" at 7:00 pm in the Divinity School in Room 0016W. This lecture will discuss jazz and spirituality with multimedia images and audio of great jazz musicians.

Dukes and Duchesses will be having an information session from 7:30-8:30 pm in Social Sciences 139. This organization is charged with presenting the university to a wide variety of individuals and groups.

Sunday, March 1st
The discussion "Proud Shoes: Pauli Murray's Life and Legacy" will take place from 3:00-4:00 pm at the Durham County Public Library. Panelists will discuss the life and work of American civil rights activist, feminist, lawyer, author, college professor, ordained priest, and Durham native.

The Career Center presents a Resume Writing Workshop from 5:00-6:00 pm in Flowers 201.

The Diversity Liaison Team at the Career Center presents "Strategies to Maximize Your Time at Duke for the Next Three Years" for freshmen from 6:00-7:00 pm in GA Down Under. Topics will include how to fin meaningful jobs on campus, how to network with professors, how to make the most out of your school breaks, resumes, majors and more! Friday, February 27th
The Career Center presents "The Highly Effective Job Search" with Fannie Mitchell Expert in Residence Orville Pierson from 10:00-11:30 am and from 1:00-2:30 pm in Bryan Center Meeting Room B. Pierson will discuss how job huntesr can use a systematic, project-based approach to the job search. Registration details are available on Duke eRecruiting.

The Career Center presents "Job Search Lab" for seniors from 12:00-1:00 pm in Old Chemistry 116. This will provide an opportunity for seniors to receive support as they continue to search for jobs.

Karamu Auditions
Come try out for Karamu's Spring exposition. Auditions will be held this week for the three monologues that will be performed duriing BSAI weekend. Audition packets will be available on Tuesday (February 24th) afternoon at the Information Desk in the Bryan Center.

Saturday, February 28th: "2nd Annual Ethiopia Day: A Cultural Celebration" from 2:00-5:00 pm in Great Hall with catered Ethiopian food, music and a cultural presentation.

The Duke Divinity School presents "Celebrate Haiti: A Benefit Concert" from 6:30-8:30 pm at Asbury Temple United Methodist Church (201 S. Alston Ave. in Durham). The concert will feature a variety of artistic presentation including Haitian dance, music and poetry. Haitian coffee, vanilla and artwork will also be on sale. Proceeds will be donated to St. Joseph's Family Ministries in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. A $5 donation is requested for entrance. Send an e-mail to tom.warren@duke.edu for more information.

Friday, February 27th
Beyu Caffe presents Coffeehouse Cool: A Night of Smooth Jazz and Poetry from 8:00-11:00 pm in the Mary Lou. Sit back, relax and unwind to great music but also be challenged by the intellectual stimulation of renowned poets while sipping on a great cup of java or a glass of wine.

The International Association presents "Pangaea: One World. One Party" from 9:00 pm-12:00 am in Perkins Library. This semi-formal event will provide an amazing cultural experience with scenes from the Serengeti Plains, Arabian oases, a European nightclub, and many others.
