Julian Abele Honors
The Julian Abele Honors Ceremony will take place on Sunday, April 19th at 3:00 pm in Doris Duke Center. Tuesday, April 14th
Elizabeth Alexander, a poet, essayist, playwright and Professor of African American Studies at Yale, will be reading from 5:30-7:30 pm in Nasher. Alexander read her poem during the 2009 Inauguration of President Obama.

The Kenan Institute for Ethics presents "Adventures in Guyland" from 3:00-4:30 pm in White Lecture Hall. Author Michael Kimmel will discuss his book "Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men," a book discussing the process of achieving modern manhood. 

The Multicultural Center presents "Financial Wellness" from 5:00-6:30 pm in the Multicultural Center. This interactive session will discuss how to set goals for financial success. Questions involving repayment of student loans, credit card debt, budgeting and managing expenses will be address during this session.  RSVP to vcw@duke.edu.

The Duke Investment Club presents "Internships 101: Preparing for Work in Finance" from 7:00-8:00 pm in Bostock 023 (Library Classroom). This will be your chance to learn about the financial aspects of Microsoft Excel, work with financial equations and models in Excel and understand shortcuts, tips, and tricks for using the program.

Pre-medical advisor Dean Scheirer will presents "Understanding the Primary Application for Medical, Dental and Veterinary School" from 7:00-8:00 pm in Social Psychology 130. Get a head start on applying to medical, dental, or veterinary school and learning about the post-graduate health professions application process.

Thursday, April 16th
The Duke Center for Multicultural Affairs presents the 9th Annual Unity through Diversity Forum with Robin D.G. Kelley at 6:00 pm in Divinity School Room 016. Join fellow students, staff, and community members to critically explore the implications of the shift of discourses from anti-racism and liberatory politics to discourses of multiculturalism and diversity.

Career Opportunities
Morgan Stanley Summer Internship
Morgan Stanley is looking for current juniors to participate in their Richard B. Fisher Scholars Program for GWMG. This will provide an opportunity for outstanding underrepresented minority students with a financial award for exceptional academic achievement, a summer internship with Morgan Stanley and a meaningful experience in the financial services industry. The application deadline is Wednesday, April 15th. The application is attached to the e-mail.
 
Friday, April 17th
The first annual "Spring Business Conference" will take place from 10:00 am-2:00 pm in French Family Science Center. Anyone interested in business or the current transitions that are going on in the business world is encouraged to attend.  This year's theme will be "Transitions in Business."

Community Service Events
Global Impact Corps with Unite for Sight
Be a Global Impact Fellow in Ghana, Honduras, or India during Spring, Summer, Fall or Winter. Volunteers will support and assist eye clinics globally. For more information, visit http://www.uniteforsight.org/volunteer-abroad.

Wednesday, April 15th
A Hunger Banquet will take place from 7:00-9:00 pm in the Old Trinity Room in West Union. Each participant will get a ticket for a meal with the meal representing the amount of food people worldwide have. A $5 donation is requested.

Thursday, April 16th
The Career Center presents "Expert in Residence: Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program and Careers in Health Care with Dr. Andy Baldwin" from 6:00-7:00 pm in Flowers 201. Listen to Dr. Andy Baldwin share his story and provide advice and information related to careers in health care. Dr. Baldwin is an Undersea Medical Officer, Navy diver and non-profit founder.

Wednesday, April 15th
The Annual Fund presents "Senior BBQ 2009" from 6:00-8:00 pm in Cameron Indoor. This event will be hosted by President and Mrs. Brodhead.

Enjoy live jazz music and light hors d'oeuvres at Jazz at the Mary Lou from 9:30 pm-12:00 am at the Mary Lou.

Friday, April 17th
El Kilombo presents Cimarron Latin Night from 10:00 pm-2:00 am at Club 9 on Ninth Street. The hottest Salsa, Merengue, Reggaeton, and Bachata music. The party costs $5 with an RSVP (clubcimarron@gmail.com) and $10 at the door. Door proceeds are donated to support free community programs at Durham-based El Kilombo nonprofit.

Saturday, April 18th
Duke University Improv (DUI) presents DUI's Big Show 12 at 8:00 pm in Page Auditorium. Enjoy a night of comedy with the last DUI show of the year.

The Terry Sanford Institute for Public Policy presents "An Evening with Hip Hop Novelist/Activist Sofia Quintero" from 7:30-9:30 pm at the Mary Lou. Quintero will perform readings from her book "Burn" and will participate in a question and answer session.  RSVP at rnrei@duke.edu with your name.

Thursday, April 16th
"All of the Above" will take place from 7:30-9:00 pm in East Duke 209. The show comprises a series of monologues written, performed, and directed by women at Duke. It is truly a demonstration of a utopia that Duke often wishes to achieve with all its various forms of Campus Culture Initiatives.

Friday, April 17th
The International Association presents Springternational 2009 from 12:00-6:00 pm on Main Quad. Enjoy IA's annual outdoor spring festival in celebration of all things international featuring 35+ student groups and country booths from all corners of the globe. Live music, dance performances and a capella, novelty acts, hookah, henna, and free t-shirts.

DefMo presents Crea7ion: DefMo Showcase 2009 from 7:30-9:45 pm in Page Auditorium. This is one of the most diverse student dance showcases on campus and will feature Duke Dhamaka, Duke Chinese Dance Troupe, The Pitchforks, On Tap, and Sabrosura.

Freewater Presentations presents Finding Nemo on the Quad from 8:00-9:40 pm on the West Campus Quad. Enjoy free food, desserts, popcorn, and cotton candy with free blankets while supplies last.

Saturday, April 18th
The Center for Race Relations presents a CRR Facilitator Training Session from 11:00 am-3:00 pm in the Multicultural Center. This is a great way to get involved with all of the work that CRR does. No previous experience is necessary. Sign up at CRRtraining@gmail.com.
