Julian Abele Awards
BSA and BGPSA present the Julian Abele Awards on Sunday, April 19th at 3:00 pm at Doris Duke Center. This awards ceremony will honor Duke undergraduates, graduates, and faculty members making a positive impact on the Black community. Hors d'oeuvres will be provided. Monday, April 6th
Award-winning video producer Bruce Orenstein presents Strategic Video for Social Justice? at 7:00 pm in 216 Friedl Building on East Campus. Orenstein's work has been used by community groups to advocate for living wage legislation, tenants' rights, affordable housing, youth services, health care and low-income workers.

Wednesday, April 8th
The John Hope Franklin Center presents "Let Me Live in the Heights of My Time: Black Colleges and the Legacy of Idealism and Activism in Education" from 12:00-1:00 pm in Room 240 of the John Hope Franklin Center. Speakers will discuss the topic of black student activism and the role of HBCUs in shaping national politics. Lunch will be provided.


DELISH presents "Ask the Sexperts" from 5:00-7:00 pm in the Multicultural Center. This will be a panel discussion with Q&A regarding sexual health, sex, relationships, STIs, etc. Questions will be written anonymously on cards at the event and posed by a facilitator to the panel. Thursday, April 9th
"The Promise of Leadership: Unleashing the Human Potential" from 9:00-11:00 pm in White Lecture Hall on East Campus. Brendon Burchard, author of Life's Golden Ticket and The Student Leadership Guide, will share a message about leadership and change.


Career Opportunities
Are you still looking for a summer internship? There are still 75 paid internships available to students in the Stanback Internships Program through the Nicholas School of the Environment. Students will have the opportunity to gain real world experience as they work on projects focused in areas such as policy, interactive media, research, sustainability, real estate management, education, consulting and law. Duke Libraries presents Internships 101: Preparing for Work in Public Policy and Politics from 6:00-8:00 pm in Bostock 023 (Library classroom). Learn tips and tricks for research and writing in public policy ad political science including where and how to find information efficiently and writing memos and briefs that meet your boss's needs.


Community Service Events
Friday, April 10th
Delta Gamma presents a Putt-Putt Tournament from 2:00-4:00 pm on the Bryan Center Plaza. Play a short putt-putt course for $3, with proceeds benefitting the Delta Gamma Foundation, the Duke Eye Center, and Unite for Sight. Prizes will be awarded in different divisions.


Sunday, April 12th
Nappy Luv, a philanthropic concert, will take place at 8:00 pm in Raleigh. This event hopes to raise awareness about the need to recycle old and unwanted cell phones to reduce illegal coltan mining in the Democratic Republic of Congo. For more information about the event (www.nappyluv.com).

Monday, April 6th: A Literary AKAsion from 7:30-9:00 pm in the Mary Lou Williams Center. Participate in a discussion of Come on, People: On the Path from Victims to Victors.

Tuesday, April 7th: Technological Advantage: Service through TOP-CAT. Help assist Durham residents in familiarizing themselves with up-to-date technology.

Wednesday, April 8th: Fighting Back: Anti-Domestic Violence Workshop from 7:00-9:00 pm in GA Down Under. Performer Nancy Hulse will share her experiences and advice surrounding the fight against domestic violence.

Thursday, April 9th: ABCs of Entrepreneurship from 6:30-8:30 pm in McClendon Tower 5. This seminar features local minority entrepreneurs speaking on the power of developing ideas into business, the keys to success, as well as sharing information of starting and owning a business.

Friday, April 10th: AKA Fun Day from 5:00-7:00 pm in Crowell Clocktower Quad on West Campus. Start the weekend out right with an evening of barbeque and games.

Saturday, April 11th: Pink Ice Charity Ball from 7:00-10:30 pm in Nasher Museum of Art. Enjoy a performance by singer and songwriter Teedra Moses.

Sunday, April 12th: Joint Church Service with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. at 10:45 am at First Calvary Baptist Church. Breakfast at IHOP will follow service.



Senior Week
Monday, April 6th: The Annual Fund presents the Chapel Climb from 5:30-8:30 pm at the Duke Chapel. This will be a chance for seniors only to climb to the top of the chapel.

Tuesday, April 7th: The Annual Fund presents a Pub Cawl from 10:00 pm-2:00 am on Main Street. This is a chance for seniors to enjoy drink specials and discounts at venues on Main Street.

Wednesday, April 8th: Jazz at the Mary Lou will take place from 9:30 pm-12:00 am in the Mary Lou Williams Center.

Thursday, April 9th: Senior Prom will take place from 8:00 pm-12:00 am in the IM Building. Wear cheesy prom attire for this 80s inspired dance for seniors only.

Friday, April 10th: Dean's Wine and Cheese Reception will take place from 5:30-7:00 pm in Scharf Hall. This event is only for those seniors who have donated.



Friday, April 10th
Freewater Presentations presents Monster's Inc. on the Quad from 8:00-9:30 pm on the West Campus Quad. Grab free food, desserts, popcorn, and cotton candy as well as free blankets while supplies last.

Little Shop of Horrors
Hoof 'n' Horn presents Little Shop of Horrors on Thursday, April 9th and Friday, April 10th from 8:00-10:00 pm and on Saturday, April 11th from 2:00-4:00 pm and from 8:00-10:00 pm in Reynolds Theater in the Bryan Center.

Saturday, April 11th
United in Praise will have a Spring Concert from 2:00-5:00 pm in Griffith Theater in the Bryan Center. Join the UP Gospel Choir and Praise Dance Ministry as they praise God through song and dance on the Saturday before Easter.
