BSA Announcements
The Black Student Alliance would like to thank everyone who attended our Pre-Major Forums, The Democratic Debate Watching Party, and our Family Reception this week!

We would like to remind everyone that Election Day is this Tuesday, November 6! If students registered in Durham with their Duke address, visit the following website to see the polling location http://www.lib.duke.edu/reference/guides/voting.html

Directions for Voting as A Duke Student:
East Campus -- Precinct 2: Watts Street Elementary School, 700 Watts St (map)
From East Campus, walk behind Bassett, Brown, or the East Campus Union to the wall. Cross Buchanan Blvd., and walk to Urban Ave. Walk 1 block on Urban to Watts St. Watts Street Elementary is a red brick building on the corner of Watts and Urban, across from the Baptist Church. Polls open 6:30am to 7:30pm.

West Campus or Central Campus -- Precinct 5: W. I. Patterson Recreation Center,2000 Crest St. (map)
From Flowers Dr. or Anderson St., turn Left on Erwin Road, and Right at the light onto Fulton St. Patterson Rec Center is behind the VA Hospital on the corner of Fulton St. and Crest St., near Crest Street Park. Polls open 6:30am to 7:30pm.
On foot from West Campus, walk straight through the Davison Building, and follow the signs that say "Main Entrance." Take the Red Elevators or the stairs next to the Gift Shop to the lower level. Follow the signs that say "PRT." Take a PRT tram or the covered footpath to Duke Hospital North. On the footpath, turn right at the Medical Center Library and follow the path to the Hospital. From the Hospital, follow the signs to the "Main Entrance." Go out the Main Entrance, and you will be at the corner of Fulton St. and Erwin Rd. Cross Erwin Road, and walk past the VA Hospital. Patterson Rec Center is behind the VA Hospital on the corner of Fulton St. and Crest St., near Crest Street Park.

Campus Announcements
Interested in South Asian Studies? Apply to join the Duke South Asian Studies Committee! The aim of this committee will be to further the discussion of expanding Duke's South Asian studies curriculum and advocating for the initiative through student surveys, discussions with faculty members, lobbying administrators, and report writing, etc. Committee applications are available at (http://www.dukediya.com) and applications are due by 11:59 pm on Thursday, November 8 to Shawn Kwatra at sgk5@duke.edu.

OSAF's Duke Destinations has planned a trip to the Carolina Hurricanes v. Washington Capitals NHL game on Monday, November 5th at 7:00 pm. Charter Bus will depart from West Campus bus stop at 5:30 pm. Tickets are $10 at the Duke University Box Office in the Bryan Center. Savings: $80 off the regular ticket price + gas + parking.

The American Association of Advertising Agencies' (AAAA) Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP) offers students of color 10-week paid summer internships at AAAA member advertising agencies across the country. Not getting enough work done in your room?! Find the library too crowded?! We've got the perfect solution! The Africana Mentoring Program Presents: Study Nights at the Mary Lou! It will take place EVERY Monday night from 8-11pm in the Mary Lou Williams Center for Black Culture. There will be both a group work space and a quiet study area, so please come prepared to work hard! All students are welcome, you do not have to be a part of AMP to take advantage of this great study opportunity, so please spread the word about this event to all friends!

Monday, November 5
Talk with Eddie Glaude at 3:00 pm in the Science Building, Room 225 (East Campus). From Princeton Univeristy's Relision and African American Studies Departments, Glaude will speak on the topic of "Publics, Prosperity, and Politics: The Changing Face of African American Christianity and Black Political Life."

ONE Kind of Love: An intercultural relationship game night/discussion. Theta Nu Xi Multicultural Sorority, Inc., Psi Sigma Phi Multicultural Fraternity, In.c, La Unidad Latina Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc. and Latinas Promoviendo Comunidad Lambda Pi Chi Sorority, Inc. present a night of fun and games you'll never forget. Starting out Family Feud style, teams will compete to guess the answers to a survey handed out to a hundred people at Duke and UNC. This information will then be used in a discussion about all types of intercultural relationships - inter race, faith, community, etc.

Tuesday, November 6
"Black Gold" at 7:00 pm in White Lecture Hall, East Campus. Come see "Black Gold," The first film of the Human Rights Film Festival, going on every Tuesday in the month of November. Taking place in Ethiopia, the birthplace of coffee, the film follow Tedesse Meskela as he fights to save thousands of coffee farmers from bankruptcy. On the Reel: Black Love & Relationships Film Series presents "Jungle Fever" at 7:30 pm in the Mary Lou Williams Center. This series is being held in collaboration with WOMENST150S/AAAS199S - Black Love: Romantic Relationships and the African American Experience taught by Dr. Chanequa Walker-Barnes. A brief discussion may follow each viewing. Open to All! Popcorn Provided!

Wednesday, November 7
Career 101 at 7:00 pm in the Social Psychology Building, Room 130 (West Campus). Hosted by the Diversity Liaison Team, come out to enjoy free food, receive information about minority internships, and learn about the importance of eRecruiting, Vault Guides, the Resume Book, networking opportunities, the Diversity Dinner, and Career Fairs and Conferences!

Jazz at the Mary Lou at 9:30 pm in the Julian Abele Hall, Mary Lou Williams Center. Enjoy live performances by local musicians as well as Duke music students, with special guest artists all brought together by John Brown, Director of the Duke Jazz Studies Program. Light hors d'oeuvres and liquid refreshment will be provided with the option to enjoy late night fare and drinks in the Faculty Commons provided by Sage & Swift.

Friday, November 9
The Classical Theatre of Harlem presents Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet" at 8:00 pm in Reynolds Industries Theater (Bryan Center). This bold reinterpretation of Romeo and Juliet portrays the Shakespearean romance as a story of race and bloodshed in modern-day Harlem. Fresh from a premiere run in New York, the play turns West Indian and hip-hop tempos into a tragedy of unique physical force. *Note* There is a second performance on Saturday at 8:00 pm.

Saturday, November 10
Second Annual United Nations Association Film Festival beginning at 12:00 pm in White Lecture Hall, East Campus. This film festival will last until 10:30 pm and features films made by independent film directors that address topics such as gender, environmental, and human rights issues. The festival is free and food will be provided between screenings. For a detailed schedule of films, visit http://www.una-westtriangle.org

Blaze the Stage at 8:00 pm in Page Auditorium. Hosted by the Inter-Greek Council, come out and watch members from IGC, NPHC, Panhellenic and IFC organizations form teams to win Duke's Premier Strolling Competition. Tickets are $8 before the show and $10 at the door.
