BSA Announcements
This Thursday, BSA, the Center for Race Relations, National Pan-Hellenic Council, NAACP, Duke ACLU, and a host of other groups will be taking a university-wide stand against the injustices against the Jena 6. We ask you that you please join us THIS THURSDAY IN WEARING BLACK in symbolic protest of the injustices that were done to these six students. We are also asking that you stop by the BC Plaza Thursday (anytime from 11-4) to sign our petition to Louisiana officials, get more information, and see what you can do to help the Jena 6. Be part of the national outcry against these crimes against justice! If you would like to get more involved in the planning of these intiatives, please email contactbsa@duke.edu.

Campus Announcements
Duke's only Black literary and arts journal, Prometheus Black, is now accepting submissions of poetry, short fiction, photography, and essays on Black culture. Please send your submissions to tsj5@duke.edu or drop them off at the Mary Lou Williams Center. Prometheus Black will be accepting submissions until Monday, October 29th.

Jazz at the Mary Lou at 9:30 pm in the Julian Abele Hall, Mary Lou Williams Center. The Duke University Union in collaboration with the MLWC and Duke Dining Services invites you to fill your Wednesday evenings with live jazz and the exquisite company of jazz lovers from campus and community in an energetic and engaging atmosphere. Enjoy live performances by local musicians as well as Duke music students, with special guest artists all brought together by John Brown, Director of the Duke Jazz Studies Program. Light hors d'oeuvres and liquid refreshment will be provided with the option to enjoy late night fare and drinks in the Faculty Commons provided by Sage & Swift.

The Mary Lou Wiliams Center for Black Culture is looking for student artists to create a mural for the center. If you have experience with painting, drawing, murals, or large scale art work, please contact Tassity Johnson at

On the Reel: Black Love & Relationships Film Series . "On the Reel" examines the patterns and functions of male-female, romantic African American relationships through nine films. Each film will be shown on Tuesdays at 7:30 pm. This series is being held in collaboration with WOMENST150S/AAAS199S - Black Love: Romantic Relationships and the African American Experience taught by Dr. Chanequa Walker-Barnes. A brief discussion may follow each viewing. Films include: Baby Boy, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, The Color Purple, Something New, Love Jones, Jungle Fever, Claudine, and Jason's Lyric.




Career Center
Personalized career advising sessions for undergraduate seniors with Dr. Emma Rasiel, a former bond options trader at Goldman Sachs. These sessions will run until October 30th, on Tuesdays (9:00 am to 9:45 am) and Fridays (10 am to 10:45 am). To sign up for these individual sessions log into E-Recruiting, search for the event entitled "office hours" in the event calendar, and sign up for the event on the day and time that works best for your
schedule.

American Airlines Revenue Management is recruiting graduating seniors for a Revenue Analyst Position. The Revenue Analyst is responsible for many of the operational and strategic initiatives needed to maximize revenue on American's network. The Revenue Analyst is part of a team that is responsible for the management of a specific regional market segment, such as the Caribbean, United Kingdom, or Florida. Center For Race Relations (CRR) General Body Meeting at 8:30 pm in the Multicultural Center, located on the bottom floor of the Bryan Center beside the Von Canon rooms. CRR will be discussing several new projects for the year and brainstorm ideas for other projects concerning campus issues and current events.

(regardless of your career path), explore alternative career options in finance, network with upperclassmen who have chosen this career path, meet minority executives from Wall Street, and learn about extra-curricular opportunities to develop the skills needed to succeed in finance.

007: On a Mission for Darfur, presented by BSA, Campus Council, and Duke Africa at 5:00 pm at the BC Plaza. Come out to raise awareness and to gain information about the current crisis in Darfur. There will be live entertainment, free food, and t-shirts!


Applications for Common Ground 2007 are due at 5:00 pm. Common Ground is a student-led diversity immersion retreat dedicated to exploring human relations, as they relate to the issues of race, gender, and sexuality, especially in the Duke Community. The retreat, sponsored by the Center for Race Relations, will be held from October 6-9 and is completely free.
