BSA Announcements

The Black Student Alliance would like to thank everyone who attended our Hip Hop Party on August 24 in Brodie Gym! Over 500 people attended! The *first general body meeting* will be on *Sunday, September 9, 2007* at 7:30pm in White Lecture Hall on East Campus. At the first general body meeting, the executive committee will offer a glimpse of the events scheduled for this year. Students will also be able to sign up for various committees. In order to be an active member of the Black Student Alliance, you must sign up for a committee.The first general body meeting is a great opportunity to get involved.

If you interested in applying for a position on the President's Council on Black Affairs (PCOBA), please email vbd@duke.edu for an application. Applications are due September 12.

If you are a freshman and would like to serve as freshmen representative on the BSA executive committee, please email vbd@duke.edu for an application. Applications are due September 10.

Campus Events

Monday, September 3
Minority Association of Pre-med Students (MAPS) General Body Meeting at 8:00 pm in the Upper East Side of the Marketplace. Anyone who is pre-med is invited to come and become a part of an organization dedicated to informing members about what they can do to prepare themselves for medical school.

Duke Investment Club Informational Meeting at 8:00 pm in Love Auditorium, LSRC. The Duke Investment Club is a great way to meet people, have fun, and learn about the stock market. No investing experience or knowledge is required.

Tuesday, September 4
JPMorgan Investment Bank Networking Event at 5:00 pm at the Washington Duke Inn, Ambassador Duke Room. This event is for undergraduate students seeking full-time or summer positions in Sales & Trading or Investment Banking.

The Iota Xi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. presents Black Men's Forum at 7:00 pm in Gilber-Addoms (GA) Down Under. This is an opportunity for first-year students to meet Black upperclassmen and ask candid questions about life at Duke as a Black man.

Wednesday, September 5
The Iota Xi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. presents Minorities on Wall Street Workshop at 6:oo pm in Von Canon, Lower Level of Bryan Center. The goal of the program is to provide minorities with exposure to the top firms on Wall Street through informational presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities.

Dance Black Info Session at 7:00 pm in Bell Tower 113, East Campus. This session is for everyone interested in joining Dance Black this year. DB's first practice will be Saturday, September 8th in Wilson Gym from 10 am to 1 pm.

Thursday, September 6
Africana Mentoring Program (AMP) presents Mentoring on the Move at 6:30 pm in Von Canon, Lower Level of Bryan Center. This is the first freshmen/upper-classmen mixer of the year and is only open to people who have completed the mentee or mentor application by 11:59 pm on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 3rd. Friday, September 7
LDOC Committee Chair Applications are due. The application is available on the DUU Website (http://www.union.duke.edu/) and at the OSAF reception desk.

Sunday, September 9
Black Student Alliance General Body Meeting at 7:30 pm in White Lecture Hall on East Campus. Come by and meet the new executive committee and learn about BSA's goals for the year!
